welcome!!
Hi, welcome to me and Kyle's page, my name is Jesus. I hope you have the time to read our blog posts, we are writing blogs to show our growth through out reading and writing. But not only in the class room and in school, also in life. The blogs are also to show how we grew as readers and writers in life outside of school, and what strategies we have picked up. We are doing this because #1 this is an exit project #2 also so that others like the seventh grade could look at what we are writing so they can learn from our information. But not to copy it only learn from it. #3 and most importantly so we can leave something behind because this is our last year in middle school.
My outside life
My outside life is all just about having a good time, especially with friends. After school I don't do much but at home thats when school work matters because I get the rest of the day to read and/or write. Since I lived in the same building for 14 years all of my reading and writing experiences stuck with me, I forgot what age was I when I started reading, I think I was about two or three. I know that by the age of three I already knew how to write my name, the teacher at my day care was surprised because....well you know, its not everyday where you see a three year old writing their name without any help. I think reading was the most difficult thing I learned as a child, because I talked with a lisp, even though I still though, I never pronounced stuff that start with a "th" correctly (I still can't), and the thing that was always annoying for me was that I alwaysed re-read the same sentence. I learned how to reduce the chances of that happening. Writing was really easy for me, the only challenges was writing neatly and writing the letters on the lines of lined paper, then again every one has that problem at a very young age. My outside life is mostly just about kick'n back, having fun and when its time to do work, I do the work.

Why do people come to America? Is it worth it for them and for us?
We chose this essential question because this has been a question that has been often asked through out the history of America. Especially at the turn of the twenty first century because that's when a lot of immigrants were coming to live in America. I think the main reason why people come to live in America is to start a new life because things might not be going well at their homeland. For example, at the turn of the twenty first century a lot of immigrants came to live in America to start a better life because bad stuff happened in their country. As a result, during this time period the immigrant population was very high. I think its worth it for them even though if things don't go well at first because they still overcome the challenging obstacles and succeed in life in their new home. I don't know if its worth it for us though, I guess it sorta is if you want to make new friends. I'm not sure because if you think about it, ever since immigrants started coming it has been more of a challenge to get a job. I think its about 50-50 for if its worth it for us. Its mostly worth it for the people who come over here because they come here to start a new life, to get a well paid job, and they get away from the bad stuff and disasters that happen in their country.

The writing life of an eigth grader
Hmmm writing, I sorta like to write, I don't like to write too much thats all. But like if I know alot about some thing then theres a high chance that I'll write alot about it. For example, dogs, I know alot about them and have alot of experiences with them. As a result, I could most likely be able to write a whole lot about dogs. The reason why I don't like writing that much is because I don't like writing about something I don't understand and know that well. Well I guess thats why people study lol, but thats not what this blog is all about, I'll tell you what this blog is about. A matter of fact I'll show you, starting now. I guess I'm a good writer, if I put my mind into it I could really write alot. Since I'm left handed I can't really write that neat and couldn't write that fast. I used to write all lop-sided and my letters would look messed up. But now I picked up a new strategy, no I did not learn how to write script, I just connected all the letters in every word I wrote. How I write now is very helpful for me, I guess I write a little neater. But one thing for sure is that I write a whole lot faster. But some times I think I write too fast because there are times when I just get ahead of what
I'm writing and write something I was planning on writing later on in the sentence. Or I just write something completly off topic and I don't know how that happens. This started happening around last year I think. Another strategy I picked up that helped me write better was to read to myself in my head what I plan on writing while writting it down. This helped me because it helped me kept track of what I want to write instead of stopping incase I forget. This strategy is very helpful for me. I think one one of the reasons why some people don't like to write is because now with the 21st century technoligy, most people are used to typing and some of those people don't like writing because now they prefer typing. My reading life
I think that my reading experience has helped me grow as a reader. I don't only mean in class though, I mean like where ever I'm at, if there are a lot of stuff with words on them I will read them. For example, in the subway I will always read the signs. I guess what I'm trying to say is that no matter where I'm at I'll look for something to read. Reading actually helps me a lot, like if I'm afraid of doing something or just afraid of something, I just read about it and pick up another understanding about it and then my fear goes away. At the beginning of the school year I don't think my reading was that good, like I would always stay reading books that are
part of a series like the orca books. But then I decided to not do that as much as I used to, so now
I'm reading a book called Define "Normal'', I'm almost done with the book though. For me, personally, reading is important because since I have far away friends, the easiest way for me to talk to them is on AIM because they can write to me on it and I could read what they write to me so I could understand the conversation. But most importantly some times I can't speak correctly, like I say something I don't want to say and/or I mis-pronounce words or even the whole sentence. So I use reading to help me speak better, reading actually helps me speak faster too. One thing I love about reading is that you never know what you'll end up reading and what it means. For example, you could be upset and/or depressed and next thing you know you read something like a phrase or a book and you feel a whole lot better.
One thing I don't like about reading is having a time limit to how much I can read, because I don't like reading for a short amount of time. The least amount of time I like to read is about a half an hour or a whole hour, I think this is because if I just started reading a book and if I just read it for a short amount of time I won't be that interested in it, like if I do read it for a long amount of time I would most likely be interested in it. There are two strategies I use to help me read more productive, one them is that I try to picture whats happening in the book so I could have a better understanding of the situation that is taking place. For example, if in the book one of the characters does a back flip over a speeding car I would imagine him/her doing that. Another strategy I use is that when I read to myself I make a little voice in my head to sound like the characters in the book so I could understand how they feel and what they go through in the book. This strategy
helps me a lot because if I actually don't use this strategy it will take me longer just to read one sentence! Well unless I'm reading out loud, then I'm good. I don't know why that happens, the strategy is very helpful though.

For example, some one might say that they don't like to read but when they read a book like The Outsiders they might get interested into books that have to do with teen lives. I think this because when I hear some one say they don't like to read, I end up seeing that same person reading a certain book with a look on their face showing that they are interested in the book.
